It all started one eve as Mr. Pirate was walking through the dense brush looking for Billie Bob the Pirate's treasure. Me had a treasure map. You see, Billie Bob's treasure be buried under the x on me map which I got from him before he died aboard me ship Mr. Billie bob was a mere tadpole when I first met him and we had always dreamed of being pirates as we both grew up together we decided to join the queen Anne's war as privateers as many of the young men were. We were helping the British crown by capturing and robbing the Spanish ships in the queen's name. It was great we were performing the acts of pirates all in the name of the crown and had no fears of being punished for it. We had amassed quite a bit of treasure in the four years we had served in the British navy . The war came to an end and the British won the war. The war was over and the crown had realized they had too many privateers working for them. They had to let many of us go from their employment. The men they had let go had turned to being pirates to make a living. The only thing that now, as a pirate, you were able to be persecuted for your acts. The British crown would no longer protect you, and you would stand trial for your crimes. The punishment for being a pirate was usually death by hanging! The pirates including myself would find an island, and pick a place to bury their treasure, then after making a precise map would then later return for their riches. It was wise to hide your treasure instead of keeping it on you, for if you were caught by the British Navy they boarded your ship and would bring you up on charges. If you had no treasure, they had nothing to charge you with. Many pirates buried their treasure and for no one to ever find. Such as Blackbeard himself. This pirate is said to have buried the treasure of the isles of The Carolinas. The map I had was very easy to follow, but the terrain had changed and the vegetation was thick, for it has been four years or better since anyone had been here. This was one of the problems the pirates had. I did me best to determine where the exact spot of the buried treasure was. As I was walking through the dense vines I realized me and men were not alone. I heard a voice say, "Captain Vaughn, I believe we are not alone!" Then I know my suspicions were true. I looked up into the palm trees and saw a red feathered parrot looking back at me. Little did I know at the time that this bird was going to save me and my men's lives! I shouted out to Captain Vaugh and when I did that crazy parrot repeated me and I heard the captain say "come on men, let's get out of here and back to the ship, we are outnumbered!" That crazy parrot landed on my arm and I said, " What is your name?" He said " Petey the repeat parrot". I said thank you for helping us out and I told him of the treasure we were looking for. He said he might be able to help by flying over the island and looking for the X. I told Petey if he could do this, that he could stay with me as long as he would like. The next thing I know, Petey was flying high above us and in less than an hour he found the X that marked the spot! I had my men dig and sure enough they found Mr. Billy Boys treasure. We loaded the treasure and Petey decided to go with us. I realized I got two treasures that day, but the one called Petey was the most valuable. Now he has been with me for about 6 years. I am very fortunate because I believe I have made a friend for life. He can stay as long as he wants to, and I believe he has made my life happier and more exciting.
